Die Hunde der Quatsche!
12 tracks by 12 artists from
across Europe (including Germany!) and the States, celebrating rock's wildest
genre: Krautrock.
Covering a multitude of styles from high-energy rock to weird funk to post rock
and chill out, Krautrock Karnival pays homage to the legacy left by
seventies German rock music.
Opening our teutonic inspired fiesta, Circle hits you right between the
ears with Dedofiktion, a banging psychedelic work out in the tradition of Can
and Neu! It's then time to go supersonic on a heavy kraut-prog trip from Airport
71's Traffic Control - not for those of you scared of flying to new musical
heights!
A delicately constructed, ever-building piece from Mute recording artists Appliance
shows Krautrock's influence in today's post rock field.
It's space'n'synth time! Fans of Tangerine Dream and Ashra will not be able to
resist any of these gems: Ken Martin's The Deal takes you through the
Stratosfear (sic), way into outer space; Pheaton III - Utopia by Foreign
Spaces sets in orbit around a strange Klaus Schulze-esque planet while the
majestic force of Kubusscnitt's Almost X propels our senses through the
cosmos of Kraut sounds.
Cookin' with Kurt's Soup Du Jour puts a funky-spacey-jazz take on the Kraut
aesthetic - preparing the ground for one of the originals, the legendary Damo
Suzuki from Can - and he's as strong and quirky as ever. With a great vocal
workout over a lilting rhythmic build-up, fans of the Can will not be
disappointed!
Now it's time to get heavy with the sinister sounds of The Devil Himself (part1)
from Bluesausageinfant - irresistible if you are into Guru Guru, Faust
and early Hawkwind. Egg Yum Yum's Ooh-Sky-Rah-Ket is one hell of an
amphetamine fuelled sonic attack, and our ‘mayhem á trois’ is completed by
psychedelic rockers Abunai!'s Earth Mover, a sonic juggernaut that shakes
the ground from under our feet!
Bringing the proceedings to a close, Nebula Drone's Moon Down takes the
ambience of Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze firmly into the 21st Century.
Chill out music par excellence, these guys should soon be giving The Orb and
Mouse On Mars a good run for their money!
So, the whole, wide and wild Krautrock genre is covered in one fine disk put
together as a collaboration between www.krautrocknet.com (the ultimate Krautrock
portal) and music collective The St David's Ambience Society. Good vibes run
through this disk from start to finish - you won't find a more exciting
introduction to the wacky, weird world of Krautrock!
