Synth Music Direct (UK)
The tracks are titled 'Way' 1 to 10. I could go on at length about how
much I dislike the opening track, but I won't waste space. Simply skip
over it because the rest of the album is definitely worth listening to,
infact a few of the tracks are absolute corkers. You need go no further
than 'Way 2' to realise this. A sumptuous opening with rich synth pads and
great effects gives way to a powerful chugging sequence which is
accompanied by elegant themes. The piano work and effects remind me
especially of Dennis Hart in 'Sternthaler' mode. Sequencer fans will enjoy
Ways 4 & 8, both are heady cocktails of patterns and motifs, and
there's also plenty of variety to be found with powerful rhythms taking
centre stage on some pieces, and delicate melodies on others. If you're a
fan of modern rhythmic EM, banks of sequences and searing themes then you
are bound to enjoy (most of!) the tracks presented here. (GG)
