The electronic music formation DHARANA was founded 1982 in Germany by
Ulrich Wößner, who learned playing piano in his youth. Due to his
musical taste (classic Electronic Music in Berlin School style) he wanted
to form his own band. Jürgen Geiger and Frank Kober joined the band and
the final lineup was found. DHARANA took their name from an album by
German band Between called "Dharana".
Through the early years they recorded various albums, all released on
music cassette only. Then Geiger, Kober & Wößner (GKW) went to Würzburg
to study. Geiger start to study design and interior decoration, Kober
physics and Wößner chemics. Nevertheless they continued to make music.
In 1991 the next music cassette "Metro-Pole" was released.
During the following years DHARANA continued recording and played live. In
1993 they released the last music cassette "Inorganic Waves". In
1995 they released their first CD "Gallery Of Flavours".
After finishing their studies DHARANA departed and went to normal work.
Today they live in Würzburg, Munich and Marseille (France).
"Inorganic Waves" was re-released 1999 as a 2-CD-R by SynGate
Records. "Metro-Pole" was digitally remastered 2001 by Frank
Kober and is re-released 2009 on CD-R, too.
