Guts
Of Darkness (CAN)
I like to discover new artist, especially when he has his own sound
signature. Ebia is a german synthesist who his part of this category.
Composed in 2004, Elosophy is a superb musical sculpture, mould on strange
atmospheres, creamy and wrapping synth, heteroclite pulsations and
percussions to varied tonalities. In short, an attractive album, far from
the sequences movements of the Berlin School. Here the rhythm is imaginary.
He is shape on rotary motions, at the same time contradictory, but always
harmonious.
The intro of Elosophy I resounds of coldness with deaf blows which filter
heavy drones. Thunders under an invisible rain. But a cold wind that moves
light metal tinkling. A strange pulsatory line strolls among strident
synthetic striations Platonic and cold, the intro is dark and without
soulless. A beautiful layer settles and heats environment on a long
melodious and floating movement, supported by the strange pulsatory line. A
placid silence breaks this embryonic symbiosis, where only the poundings are
made hear. They amplify the pulsations of Elosophy I which floats with grace
on a light uniform sequencer where low and heavy keys fly on a static and
circular rhythm. Synth multiplies the floating pads which glide on strange
synthetic dry riffs, giving heaviness to an impulsion animate by felted
percussions and beautiful tuneful layers.
A sequential movement with nervous pulsations, which fly with multisonorous
keys, opens Elosophy II. Spherical, the rhythm is belt with keys which
circle on efficient cymbals. Quietly, a crescendo effect is installing and
hustle the tempo on a movement of sequences percussions at hatched
frequencies. A genius moment where the synth surrounds of short harmonious
layers, sometimes strident, on a spheroid movement flooded of sequential
keys to pulsatory reverberations. What a musical piece! It makes a great
entrance and depicts very well the musical universe of Ebia.
Eternity
is a long ambient movement with the fragment synthetic evolutions. On short
harmonies and floating striations, the synth blows lines where voices mix
with exhalations of with sharp-edged violin layers. A beautiful floating
title which draws its richness from one ambivalent synth.
On the opposite, E-motion rocks the woods. A military march with two tones
on a constant rhythm. A rousing beat, on a good loopy undulating sequence,
match with a synth with covering and harmonious layers. The movement
oscillates between two tempos, on the same sequence. A moderated tempo,
guided by metal percussions and a heavier one, more accentuated, hammered by
ramming percussions and pulsations.
An unstitched tempo in a nervous rhythm and distressing atmosphere opens
Electron. Heavy pulsations, on an austere synth, fly in flickered notes
creating a convulsive harmonious circle. The last round is not closed. It
lets spin a layer which is surrounded on it, extinguishing this hypnotic
circle quietly.
Emage is a title without movement, but rhythm. A big draped circular circle
on moulding layers, harmonious and sometimes strident, on percussions and
pulsations at the sober tempo or soft techno on `' tschitt tschitt`'
cymbals.
An undulating bass, with the ''tam tam'' tribal pulsations opens Etopia.
Ebia flying keys dance on pulsatory circular cycles, dark and limpid. The
synth blows are sublimes and penetrating. They harmonize a hypnotized
impulsion.
Equalizer finishes this 1st opus on a gliding intro, synth is dandled on
superb arrangements, when the percussions animate a movement which becomes
more fluid, more sensual, until its last striking.
Elosophy is a long atmospheric voyage. An opus curiously beautiful where
Ebia multiplies the stagnant impulsions which form narrow circles, where
everything turns in a harmonious circular movements. An attractive title,
which amaze by its subtle permutations and its unforeseeable impulsions. An
album difficult to describe, so much the musical flora is dense. Ebia! A
name to recall.
